How to make coffee cool again

We love to follow our customers on social media and see what they’re up to. In these days of endless Costa Coffee and Starbucks it’s refreshing to find an independent coffee shop with so much more to offer when hitting your local high street. Discover how to make coffee cool again with a visit to Wattle and Co.

The newly open café caught our eye. The coffee shop is a perfect mix of stylish design and delicious looking locally sourced food. We are always inspired by the amazingly creative businesses we get to work with and we love to feature them on the blog. Named after the national flower of Australia and based in Bishops Stortford, Wattle and Co recently opened to bring a slice of laid back Aussie lifestyle to this busy market town.

Creating the menu board

Owner Simeon scoured the web for design inspiration for his new venture. The menu board is inspired by one seen in a US coffee shop. Custom made Vinyl lettering was key to the design. Simeon called us with a request to create lots of individual letters which we produced from black vinyl.

The letters are easy to apply to individual painted wooden tiles.  The tiles slip in between the wooden battens on the wall. It’s like a giant scrabble board. Having multiple combinations of letters and numbers make it quick and easy to update the menu and prices at any time of day.

The natural wood and strong typography bring an element of a modern and minimal interior design style to the coffee counter. It is certainly eye catching. The board displays the range of coffees available on the day. Notably all made from coffee beans supplied from sustainable and ethical sources.

The café has been open for 2 week now and locals are loving it. As well as coffee they serve lunches to cater for all diets. There’s also some delicious looking cakes from their in-house pastry chef!
